What are you looking forward to at polyspektiv?

What I’m most looking forward to at polyspektiv is working with young people. I would like to get to know and understand their perspectives on political events and our society. I’m also really looking forward to the variety of different projects at polyspektiv: One day it could be a basic lecture on EU politics in Berlin and the next morning an educational policy project on misinformation at a school in Brandenburg or on the other side of the country. I think that sort of variety is great.

How did you join polyspektiv?

My path to polyspektiv began when I moved to Berlin at the end of 2023. At the time, I was working as a trainee for the European Parliament in Berlin during the European elections. Following on from this position, I spent the next eight months working at Erlebnis Europa at the Brandenburg Gate. That’s where my path crossed with the polyspektiv team.

What do you do at polyspektiv?

I spend about half of my working day at Erlebnis Europa, an interactive exhibition of the European Parliament and the European Commission. Erlebnis Europa is part of the European House at the Brandenburg Gate. Here I accompany role-playing games for school classes who want to learn more about the workings of the European Parliament and give basic lectures on the European Union. I spend the rest of my time on various educational policy projects and their implementation.

Why are you involved in political education at all?

Personally, my interest in politics and social issues only became more pronounced during my studies. Looking back, I would have liked to have found access to these often dry topics earlier. With my work, I want to help young people find access to political topics. I want to encourage them to stay informed, to question things critically and to get involved in society themselves.

And what do you do when you’re not working for polyspektiv?

In my free time, I’m busy exploring Berlin and getting a feel for this huge city. At the same time, as a child of the Rhineland, I regularly return home. The Cologne heart suffers in the distance.

Recently, Lindy Hop has been very popular with me. It’s the perfect way to stop thinking about politics and bring some lightness into everyday life.
